Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz- Main Engineering - Lt(jg) Falthgood & Captain Sash - 14:38) Falthgood looked at the Engineering monitor, in plain public view. He wasn't really doing much with it but creating a show for whoever was looking, more-or-less he was doing an intense study of the Warp Core and running tests that wouldn't discover the true problem, a slight bit of deception for whomever might be looking at him and wondering his intentions. "What have you got Lt?" Falthgood turned to look over his shoulder, "A headache, indigestion and Male Pattern Baldness. You?" Zach turned to face the monitor and killed it. He stood slowly, "Come with me to the Jefferies Tubes, Captain, I've found this great tweak to increase engine efficiency, assuming the Bear can ever get our toys working again." His face was grave, belying the light tone. "I think you will enjoy." Sash followed Falthgood, still smiling at the male pattern baldness. "That's great," he replied, but wasn't convinced that was the reason he had been called down there. "But you could have given that all to me in a report. You didn't need me to come down here for that." "ooooh, trust me, you wanna see this." Zach replied as he pried open one of the Access hatches to the Jefferies Tubes. "It will change your religion." "You'll find that my religion is not easy to change, Lt," Sash said dryly. He crawled into the tube and continued straight on, took a turn, then another, and after a couple more minutes ended up in a junction for the Jefferies Tubes. Each tube had a slide door, he touched the panel above each one and locked the door. A few moments after that he pulled out his subtle scattering device and engaged it. "We have problems," Zach said without further ado. "This is why you didn't want to kick me." he handed over the PADD which pointed out what he had found in the computer, the destruction commands. "We have a mole, one of my old family." Sash took the PADD and read silently. He knew that there had been something strange going on. Now he was certain of it. The only way that those destruction codes could have been set was by hand. That could not be any accident. He also noticed the levels of security measures that appeared to have been taken. Tracing this was not going to be easy. "Do you have any idea who is capable of doing this?" he asked. "Anyone," Zach said with a nasty little grin, "I could probably convince you that I'm a window-washer, if that's what I wanted. This person could be just about anyone." He leaned back against a bulkhead and wrapped his hands behind his head. "Ill be finding them, though, its become my personal crusade... before they blow us all to hell." "Well that would certainly be nice," Sash replied as he followed suit, leaning against the opposite wall. "Damn I hate this spy crap." "Its part of the reason I got out," Zach said after a few moments. "Though mostly it was the murder that got me." Zach said after a few moments. "This person is a professional spy, yes, but they don't have the morals of SFI. You are looking at someone that was trained to use people and ships to further ends, and then to destroy all the evidence. Frankly, Doenitz was never known to waste resources. If we are targeted for Destruction, I would worry more about WHY he suddenly decided we were expendable then what they are going to do with us. It would usually mean that we have recently outlived our usefulness." He mused, "Odds are that the mole is a plant, been here since that archaeological mission, someone well established that won't raise suspicion. So, on that theory, we have someone who has been here for a long period of time that didn't destroy us at the onset of problems." He sighed, "That is something I will have to wait on though, Ill start investigating the persons actions once I'm done finding him, or her." The thought that this person could have been there for a long time disturbed Sash. "That also means that whoever this is has had time aplenty to layout many other nasty little surprises." Zach grinned, evilly. "Dozens, at least." He pushed forward from the bulkhead, "I'm watching the common ones, and I know enough of the signature to watch for other anomalies. I'm probably going to have to catch em in the act." He paused, "We are not likely to have a lot of time when I do pinpoint the b*stard, I take it you don't mind if I go armed with someone and take them down without being read miranda rights?" Sash smiled his own evil grin. "Lt. Falthgood, I will let you use your discretion. Let's just try and keep them alive long enough to make sure there aren't any more." "That won't be a problem, I love reunions." Zach said in a low tone. "Me and this person will have lots to talk about." he paused, he had ideas about that. "Ill talk to you about those methods later, I doubt you'll like em, but arguing at this moment would just take time from my search." Sash rubbed his forehead. "I don't think I want to know. So it's come to this. I've finally succumbed to the ends justifying the means. Do what you must Lt. I will trust to your judgment in this matter." Zach inclined his head and held up the small mechanical gadget, and shut it off. "The way I figure, Captain, we can attach this little baby to the Solids Recycling Center and increase power production off the methane by at least fifteen percent, that will add another few months of fuel onto our emergency backups, we could even force it into solid-state and feed the refuse to a select nuclear reactor or two as free fuel." Ever since the food-chocking incident in Ten Forward earlier, Janet immediately took charge of the operations in the medical staff and the workings of Sickbay while her boss, Dr. BigWill Kinkaid, was recovery from his injuries. Janet had to finish dealing with the patient medical reports making sure the treatments that were given would be adequate enough to return the patients themselves back to duty without further delay. Janet did not have much time to waste on idle chitchat with the medical staff. She had to get Sickbay ready for an inspection-type visit regardless if it was formal or informal. Janet needed everyone to pull together to make it happen. (Reply None) (Posted by Nathan M. Kinkaid looked around in the tubrolift and listen to the motion sound of the lift. He noticed that the tubrolift was running a bit slower than usual. Finally, the tubrolift slowed to a stop and the doors slid opened. Kinkaid was pressed for time to make his meeting with Captain Sash. He felt the need to let Lt. Zzt know about this after the meeting. (USS Nimitz - Deck 1 - CMO- Ensign BigWill Kinkaid - 1511) Kinkaid was in awe of the complex nature of the bridge. ~ One day I will learn the operations of this marvel of Starfleet engineering ~ Kinkaid thought as he saw himself in the center chairs of the bridge. Kinkaid approached the Ready Room doors and tapped the door chimes. The chimes rang. (Reply CO, Sash) Kinkaid entered the room. Kinkaid noticed that the captain appeared to be very exhausted as he was going through the PADD reports at his desk. Kinkaid took a mental note of that as he handed Sash his PADD medical report on the XO and the message from Starfleet Medical about his mother. (Reply CO, Sash) (Posted by Nathan M. He had bluffed the commander and won, but, he was not sure he had. He was not sure about what he had told the commander was true or not, but, he had made it sound like it was. He had gone against everything he had lived by all his life, he had deceived someone purposely. He and Katie had not talked on their walk to his quarters as he was thinking of the situation. Once they arrived, he had a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach and had to go relieve himself of it's contents. He knew it was what he was taught that he had went against to save his beloved from being put in the brig and possibly loosing her position. After he had recovered, he had walked back out to the living room to see that Katie had a concerned look on her face. (reply Katie) "I am sorry love, it was just a reaction. We need to talk." Simbel said as he took her hands and lead them both over to the couch. (reply Katie) (pb Frank) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz - quarters - Schoolteacher -Katie Troi - 17:30) The grip that Simbel had on Katie made her a little scared, and then when they had reached his Quarters, he had gone to throw up She moved over to the couch and tucked herself up in it, shaking from the reaction of getting so incredibly angry with Wilson. ~I can't believe I just hit the XO of this ship.~ She said. She had meant for things to have gone a bit smoother, she was just curious as to who he was, he looked new and confused. Though why she had observed the Ops Officer on the holodeck with him..... She looked up to see Simbel come out of the bathroom, looking very wan. She got up, only to have him say that they needed to talk and lead her back to the couch. "I'm sorry." She said, shaking still, some with cold, some with fear. Katie could just imagine how either Vanyssa or Sash would have taken it when the XO told them what she had done. They would both have been so ashamed of her. Katie felt warm arms around her, holding her. She shook them off and stood up to pace the room. "I can't believe I just did that." She stated, frantically pacing the room. 5 to the wall, an about face, 7 to the other, and repeat. "I *USED* to be a Starfleet Officer. You would think I would know better. A security Officer, to boot." She said, her pacing picking up speed as she vented some of the emotions building up inside her. "Just because they threw me out doesn't mean that I have to abandon the ideals and behaviours that they taught me. It's just, I saw him threatening you and I couldn't deal with it." She then collapsed on the floor and began to cry, further venting the emotions that were inside her. They had to come out, locking them up inside would do no good. Betazoids did everything with passion and zest, at least, her Clan did. Falthgood, this is Saleke, newly assigned to the Nimitz as Chief Science Officer requesting your presence in the CSO's office =^= Zach blew a breath through his mustache. "I hear you, Chief, Ill get there as soon as I can, I'm right in the middle of some very... Delicate... Experiments." =^= Very good Lieutenant I will be expecting you. Saleke out =^= Zach shook his head. "Just what I needed," he muttered, "Another CSO to freak out." He blew another breath through his mustache and leaned forward to look at the screen. He was the only one in this room, it was left open so that nothing as obvious as him being in a locked room would be viewable by anyone keeping an eye on him. Anyone that came in, however, was quickly chased out again by his 'mad scientist' routine. People usually choosing to access this LCARS access lab usually wanted some peace and quiet. Officially, he was reconfiguring the Warp Fields for the reinnitilization of the Warp Drive. His shunts had damaged the generators, after all. In reality the reconfiguration was already done and he was running a very careful search of both the computer's access logs, and a detailed analysis of the Personnel logs, looking for a couple small key things that often found their way into operators of his style. His bio was something of an exception, he wasn't a typical under-cover operator spread through the fleet, he had been one of the big-wigs, and his bio now showed craters. In fact, If one read his bio, it wasn't a surprise that he had only 'advanced' as far as Lieutenant Junior Grade. In realty, he had been a Captain once. =^= Lt. Falthgood this is Saleke =^= ~Again?~ "Yes, Chief, I'm still buried..." =^= Yes I quite understand Mr. Falthgood, I will be leaving the office for a short while. I will return at 18:15, that will give you more time to wrap up your affairs. Thank you Lieutenant. Sash asked. =^=Actually, I had check Petty officer Hakeswell, but Comdr Wilson ask me to go further and search for his previous movements which leads me to suspect him. He has also the credential to do the sabotage that was done. A security team is on the way, just like I am.=^= "I guess we need to talk to him then," Sash agreed. "Let me know when you have him in custody. I want to be present at the questioning." =^=Understood Captain, I'm on my way and keep you posted... Kateb out.=^= Sash sat back in his chair trying to remember who this Petty Officer Hakeswell was, but no image came to his mind. Suddenly he heard his door chime ring, but before he could say anything the door opened and Wilson came bounding into the room. "Captain, I've called off security. Before you panic sir let me quickly explain in brief. Hakeswell is an enemy agent that has infiltrated our wing of intelligence; he is attempting to sabotage your ship. However we need to keep him active but watch him to find out whom he is working with. What I've set in motion is to allow him to leave with Mr. Dema following and then we are going to extract him with out any one knowing from his quarters." "Is that wise?" Sash asked. "If we know who he is and what he is let's pick him up now, before he does any more damage to my ship." "Well, sir, to be honest if we try and take him now we will cause a scene making those other operatives through out the fleet go deeper into hiding or we might cause a stepping up of there terror campaign. Also Hakeswell has a dummy tooth that is filled with a neural toxin. If he bites down hard on it he will die taking with it all the secrets he holds. For the safety of the fleet I ask for a leap of faith sir, I promise a full explanation soon." "I'm not strong on leaps of faith Commander," Sash said. "I know it is a lot to ask sir, I understand I'm not in the best position to ask but I'm doing." There was that feeling again. The feeling that he wanted to trust this man. Deep down inside Sash felt certain that Wilson was somebody he could trust. He took a deep breath. "Vewry well, Commander," he finally said, "I will give you a small leap right now." Suddenly his eyes went cold and his voice lowered to a dangerous level. "But do NOT make me regret this decision, Commander." (reply Wilson) "And keep me informed every step of the way." Zzt nodded approvingly. "Good. You back," Zzt said, moving toward the ACEO, momentarily forgetting about the vulcan he had been talking to. Zzt pulled a PADD from his shirt pocket and handed it to the ACEO. "Zzt prepare list of work still to be done. Keep warp core and anti-matter pods on emergency power, while we work on computer glitch. If problem, you call Zzt immediately" "Aye, sir." Miles said as he took the PADD. He went to a station and began to fix some of the more basic problems, he saved the more complex ones that wouldn't be solved with a computer for later. Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz, Main Engineering, Lt(sg) Zzt, 17:56) Zzt had ordered O'Neill to take a few hours break to eat and catch a quick nap after he had finished re-attaching the ships hull plating. They were in for a long night in engineering, and Zzt would need a break himself soon himself. He wanted his ACEO fresh when he returned so that Zzt could take a few hours rest himself. Due to his massive size and bulk, Zzt required a far larger dietary intake and rest cycle than humanoids. A disadvantage of his races massive size. Zzt was working on reconstructing certain engineering sub-systems after he had purged the corrupted protocols, while keeping an eye on the various repair teams still moving through out the ship. "Chief Engineer Zzt may I have a moment of your time?" Zzt turned his massive head in the direction the voice had come from. Looking down at the fur less vulcan standing a few feet distant. Zzt sniffed the air catching the new comers scent. With two large steps, Zzt closed the distance between him and this new comer. His eyes narrowed as he looked down his snout at this unknown person. "Who you?" Zzt asked, baring his large fangs as he spoke. (Reply Saleke) Zzt was about to respond when he noticed Ensign O'Neill walked into engineering. Zzt nodded approvingly. "Good. (Reply Saleke) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz - Main Engineering - Ensign Saleke - 17:57) After speaking Saleke watched the massive Ursinoid turn slowly in his direction. After smelling his scent Lt. Zzt crossed the distance between them in a surprisingly short time, but that after all is why Saleke had chosen to place himself out of the Gerratlian's immediate reach. The Chief looked down his snout at him and spoke, "Who you?" Zzt asked, baring his large fangs as he spoke. Saleke considered the Chief Engineer's actions as he spoke in return, the baring of fangs was most likely a learned response as Lt. Zzt had spent so much time among humans and like beings, it would not be logical for him to menace a fellow officer on the ship. "I am Ensign Saleke, Chief. I have been assigned to the Nimitz to take Lieutenant Falthgood's temporary position as CSO. As of yet we have not met but I plan on remedying that shortly." The Vulcan waited as the Chief Engineer turned from him to speak to an engineering officer who entered the area. "Good. You back," Zzt said and moved toward the man where he pulled a PADD from his shirt pocket and handed it to him. "Zzt prepare list of work still to be done. Keep warp core and anti-matter pods on emergency power, while we work on computer glitch. If problem, you call Zzt immediately" "Aye sir," The ACEO replied and went to a workstation to begin his repairs. Saleke decided to make the young man's aquaintance at the next opportunity. Saleke noticed Zzt had turned back toward him. "Zzt need eat. You talk. Zzt eat?" He asked, the vulcan. "Of course Lt. Zzt, I will accompany you." Saleke said, not knowing what was in store for him. Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz, 10 Forward, Ensign Saleke, 1800) Saleke followed the Chief Engineer into Ten-Forward and saw him move directly to the counter where he scooped up a large bowl of green liquid, the huge Gerratlian made it look impossibly easy as he balanced it in one paw and moved to a table. You want drink?" Zzt asked The Vulcan took a glass of water for himself and moved to Zzt's table, snagging one of the chairs that a kick from his huge leg had sent careening toward the center of the room. After setting the chair at the table he seated himself and watched the Engineer lap with gusto at his drink. Seeing he was perilously close to being doused he moved his chair back a little farther out of harms way. "So," Zzt said, after finishing his drink, nearly emptying the contents of the bowl. "What you want talk about?" Saleke took a drink of the water and said. "I came across some reports that were intriguing Lt. but they were incomplete. Because you are the Chief Engineer you are in a position to explain much of what I want to know. There was an Anomaly that this ship came across recently that was composed of an extremely high ratio of subspace distortions and temporal flux. The amount of energy and its type that was contained in the Anomaly as shown by the evidence left in its wake was enough to have a catastrophic effect on anything it touched. In short Lt. I would like you to tell me in your own words what effect this Anomaly had upon the ship and crew." As Saleke finished he noticed the servers bringing Lt. Zzt's meal to him on two heaping platters, neither flame nor any other form of radiant energy had touched the bloody hunks of meat Lt. Zzt obviously enjoyed his meat like a true carnivoir. As Zzt tore into his food Saleke watched closely, he had never met a Gerratlian before though he had heard somewhat about them and this was definately a different experience. Unortunately it appeared he was too engrossed in watching as he felt a warm liquid splatter on his right cheek. Saleke turned to his left and reached for a napkin that was lying to the side, as he did he saw Lt. Zzt lean toward him, wondering what he was doing he turned back toward him as a great arm encircled Saleke and pulled him closer. Saleke didn't even have time to flinch as the great pink tongue shot out of Zzt's mouth. With a Sllluuuurrrpp the rough, sticky tongue of the Gerratlian traveled up the Vulcan's cheek and over his eye which had closed automatically. After Zzt had finished licking him Saleke opened his eye gingerly and once more reached for the napkin. ~ I can see meeting new life forms is going to be somewhat more of an experience than I had supposed. ~ He thought as he wiped his face. He looked up as Zzt said innocently. "Zzt sorry bout that," He said before tossing another chunk of bloody meat into his hungry maw. Saleke shook his head, "That is all right Lieutenant." He rubbed his abraded cheek gingerly. "Now about the Anomaly Lt. Zzt." (Reply: Chief Engineer Zzt) (Reply: Lt. Zzt, any) (Posted by Charles Gatling) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz, 10 Forward, Lt(sg) Zzt, 1800) Zzt entered 10 Forward, and lifted his snout into the air catching the scent of the various people in the room, before moving to the bar and placing his order. Having to use both hands, the bar tender put a large bowl filled with a green liquid on the counter and told Zzt that his food would be right out. Zzt scooped up the bowl with one paw, and looked back at Saleke. "You want drink?" He asked, before moving to an empty table, kicked the chairs out of the way and sat on the floor. Placing his large drink on the table, Zzt used his large tongue to lap out a large drink, oblivious to the amount of his drink that splattered onto the table top and anyone around him, including himself. "So," Zzt said, after finishing his drink, nearly emptying the contents of the bowl. "What you want talk about?" (Reply Saleke) As Saleke finished speak two servers came over carrying a massive platter piled high with raw bloody meat. With great effort the two servers hoisted the platter onto the table top in front of the famished Zzt, who didn't wait to start tossing slabs of bloody meat into his mouth and chewing hungrily. Blood splattered onto the table top and ran down Zzt's front. Covered his fangs and claws. Zzt looked up as he noticed some blood had splattered onto the new CSO's face. Throwing a massive paw around the CSO to draw him closer, Zzt leaned across the table and licked the blood from the vulcan's face with out a second thought. "Zzt sorry bout that," He said before tossing another chunk of bloody meat into his hungry maw. (Reply Saleke, O'Neill, Any) (posted by Wes) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz, 10 Forward, Lt(sg) Zzt, 1805) "Now about the Anomaly Lt. Zzt," Saleke said, grabbing a nearby napkin. Zzt waved one paw while shoveling more meat into his mouth with the other. After a few moments of chewing and slurping, Zzt drank the last of his drink. Looking back at the bar tender, Zzt pointed a claw at his empty bowl. "Bring Zzt more," He said, before turning back toward Saleke. Zzt licked his fangs before replying. "Ship never come close to anomaly, so no need worry. Only Away team went through anomaly. Twice. Zzt and Falthgood modified shuttle shield to filter the subspace flux and temporal drift. Though them not suppose to have gone through the thing as we not know it was there till they passed the event horizon. Zzt not know how it effect them as Zzt engineer not doctor. Have ask doctor how it effect away team. As for shuttle, Zzt had through analysis of shuttle done upon it return from mirror universe. Results in engineering logs." "Nothing much found, except for slight crystallization of hull plating, but that not abnormal for a ship going through a subspace phenomenon. There was also some slight imbalance in some of the impulse sub-systems, but them easy fixed." As Zzt finished speaking a server, wearing a rain coat and hat, showed up carrying another large bowl in his arms which he handed to Zzt. Zzt immediately started lapping liquid out of the bowl, spraying the server and himself with the green liquid. (Reply Saleke, Any) (Posted by Wes) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz - Ten forward - CSO Saleke - 18:07) Saleke considered the information that Chief Engineer Zzt had supplied for a moment while dodging the occasional splatter of the drink Zzt was consuming. After extricating himself from the Ursinoid's grasp he had resumed his position at a safe distance or so he thought, one dodge was not successful and a large green stain appeared on his uniform below his right shoulder. Saleke looked at the stain and shook his head slightly, the Chief Engineer was certainly an efficient creature and very helpful but his table manners left much to be desired. "Thank you Lt. Zzt for the information, you have filled in some gaping holes that were left in the report. I will seek out the CMO later, at the moment I have time constraints. I have never seen your homeworld Lieutenant and know little about it, would you tell me something of it and about yourself? I must admit to a great deal of curiosity." (Reply: Lt. He pulled on his specially tailored uniform, with half a dozen pockets on the legs, various implement pockets on the arms and chest, and the internal pockets made for holding PADDS... And then nodded his head in satisfaction. He pressed on the chime, and walked in without waiting for an answer, as he was already expected. "Boss," he said with an agreeable smile. His smile got a tad larger when he noticed that the Chief was a Vulcan, and not prone to enjoying highly emotional people, like Zach tended to be. He bowed like a dandy, his smile warm and natural, "Lieutenant Falthgood, Science Research and Reverse Engineering, among other things... All at your service!" (reply: Saleke) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS NIMITZ - Deck 6, CSO's office - Ensign Saleke - 1817) Saleke stood to his feet as the door opened and Lt. "Shades" Falthgood swept into the room. Saleke noted the shaded glasses upon the Lieutenant's face but dismissed them as unimportant, Lt. Falthgood's bio had made mention of his low tolerance for light (One of the few things it did mention) and although the glasses were not Star Fleet issue uniform they were not an issue worthy of his consideration. The bow was unexpected as was the smile that followed it. "Boss," "Shades said, "Lieutenant Falthgood, Science Research and Reverse Engineering, among other things... All at your service!" "Welcome Lt. Falthgood, please have a seat. Is there something I can get for you to drink?" (Reply: Lt "Shades" Falthgood) After Saleke had also taken his seat, "Mr. Falthgood, thank you for coming, I realize you have had a difficult day and are currently off duty so I will endeavor to be brief. My orders Lieutenant specified that I would be taking over the CSO's post upon my arrival however it made no mention of the temporary nature of your position nor the fact you were remaining with the ship therefore I logically assumed that the post was already vacant. If there has therefore been any difficulty caused by my abrupt assumption of the duties of the position I tender my apologies and regrets for the miscommunication." (Reply: LT. Thankfully, it didn't even groan under his mass, and he wiggled into it to make his full frame fit as well as it could. "Mr. If there has therefore been any difficulty caused by my abrupt assumption of the duties of the position I tender my apologies and regrets for the miscommunication." Zach waved, "Less paperwork for me, my heart isn't into command, I'm a pure scientist of sorts. Take it with my compliments." "Thank you Lieutenant, you have a wealth of experience and expertise in the scientific and technical fields and I will be counting on you to supplement the logged reports to more quickly update me of current conditions onboard ship." "Ahhh," Falthgood said as he leaned forward. "I've got a few things on the back burner now, but mostly stuff dating back to a prior archaeological mission. Most of the heavy research has already been done, though I am still tinkering with em. The rest of my work you will always see immediately, when its needed, applied subspace physics usually only makes a difference when we are near some sort of subspace anomaly." "In regards to my last point Lieutenant I found a report by Ensign Carlton about the Anomaly this ship encountered recently but the report was woefully incomplete. I plan on discussing this with Mr. Carlton in the morning. I met with Chief Engineer Zzt a short time ago and he filled me in on the Anomaly's effect on the Shuttlecraft that penetrated it but said little about the Anomaly itself and I plan on talking with the CMO on its effects on the crew that were in the shuttle. What can you tell me Lieutenant about the events that surrounded the encounter and could you elaborate briefly? "Sorry, Chief," Zach said with spread hands. "Some of it is classified I'm sure, the Captain is the one you will want to be talking to about it for the very intimate details, I'm not sure how much they will allow us to talk about." He paused, made a show of nibbling on his lip as he thought. "I can say this much at least, it was a rip in space to another timeline, or dimension. The mathematics of it are screwy, our understanding of trans-dimensional shifting is light at best. But, we came in contact with the inhabitants on the other side, and ended up having a small problem with em." He took a breath and shrugged, "Ask Captain Sash for the rest, he would have the authority to say more, he was on the other side the same as I was... But he has the pips I don't." (reply: CSO, any) (posted by Trout) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz - Captain's Quarters -FO - Commander Vanyssa Winters -19:07) "So what has been prepared for us to feast upon?" Jennah glared at her mother and said. "I made brownies. But they are jsut for the Captain." She said, being a tad bit sassy. "Jennah." Vanyssa said, a tad bit of warning in her voice. As usual, her very biddable daughter subsided to fume silently. "Devan, is dinner ready ?" Vanyssa asked, using Sash's first name, for the first time in a long while. "Just about," Sash replied, "why don't you open the wine and everyone can have a seat. I'll be ready to serve in just a moment." Vanyssa nodded and did so, pouring a very small amount in a glass for Jennah also. Once everyone was seated Sash brought out the dinner. "Commander Wilson, I hope you like Itallian food. It's something Nessa introduced me to on the Newman, and soon I had to learn to cook it." “Italian is one of my favourites sir, no doubt you would have done a fine job,” John stated smiling, it always did pay to be nice to the boss every now and again. The meal was served and everyone began to eat. It was awkwardly quiet for a few minutes. The only sound was of the silverware hitting the plate and the sound of food being consumed. Sash had never been very good at small talk but he thought he'd give it a go. "So, Commander Wilson, what do you consider to be the main differences between serving on a strship and serving on a starbase?" Well the primary difference would be this is more confined in a manner, however im more comfortable on a ship due to the fact that a ship is not a sitting duck. The amount of times Geneva came under attack and we had no manner in which to run is countless. Im grateful to the fact that I now can run quite easily,” John stated grinning. “It was always a dream of mine to serve on a starship sir, since I used to be a keen pilot. A starbase was a clipping of the wings so to speak now I look forward to being able to explore once more,” John stated, Vanyssa chimed up, "I would think that you would feel more comfortable with your family on a starbase, though, Commander. More stable." Vanyssa peered around as the chime rang and Sash went to answer it. All the formalities were soon concluded, and when Wilson left Vanyssa turned to Sash. "Well that was great." She said, chasing some of the sauce around her plate with this wonderful earth food called 'garlic bread'. Vanyssa looked down at her daughter. "Do you want to stay and discuss ships business with the Captain and me or do you want to go back to Quarters?" Jennah tilted her head to one side. "Quarters." She said simply. She got up and curtsied to the Captain. "Thank you for dinner, Sir." She said sweetly, then impulsively hugged him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. (reply Sash) After Jennah had left, and the table was cleaned up, Vanyssa refilled her glass of wine and took it into the living area. She smiled at him, and accepted the invitation to cuddle. She leaned her head on his shoulder, and thought for a moment. "I don't like him. Either of them." She said simply. (reply Sash, Wilson, any) (pb melinda :-) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz - Captain's Quarters -CO - Captain Devan Sash -19:18) Sash listened to Wilson's explaination nodding. He could tell that the commander was truely glad to be assigned to a starship. The man seemed to be a paradox. He appeared to be this cold and distant SFI agent, detached and looking for conspiricies wherever they may, or may not, be. But here, he seemed so open and even likeable. Damn the circumstances of their meeting. He found himself wishing that he could trust the man, but knew better. Suddenly there was the chime at the door, and Sash found himself face to face, or rather chest to face, with the largest person he'd met other than Zzt. Zzt was definitely larger, but this creature just felt more dangerous. He said he was looking for Commander Wilson without introducing himself. He was brief and to the point. There was no wasted conversation with this one. "Commander Wilson," Tagon stated, "I came as quickly as I could." John smiled. "Capital timing Dru," Wilson stated as he rose from the table. "Captain Sash, this is Agent Dru Tagon my assistant. Dru this is Captain Sash and Commander Winters. CO and FO respectively," John stated. Tagon looked down at the captain and FO. "Sirs," he said in gesture that might have been a nod. "Captain I apologise but I must cut dinner short to deal with affairs with Mr Tagon," Wilson said. "Of course Commander," Sash replied, "business always comes first." "Thank you for a lovely evening Captain, Commander and Miss Winters," John stated. "Come on Dru, I'll sort you out with quarters." "That would be appreciated Commander," Tagon replied as he squeezed his way through the doorway, and the door closed. Sash looked over at Nessa and Jennah, his eyes wide. He had a disconcerting look on his face. As he sat down he said, "That is one big man." "Well that was great," Vanyssa said, finishing up her meal. Instinctively he returned the kiss say, "Good night sweetie." Suddenly he realized what he had done and looked down at his empty plate for a second. his mind had taken him back for a brief instant, more than 40 years. Had it really been that long. sometimes it still seems like yesterday, and then there times when it fle like an eternity ago. Then smell of smoke, charred flesh and blood came back to his memory and he shook himself back to the present. Then there was the laugh in the back of his mind. As if it had always been there. Sahs shuddered and looked into Jennah's, now concerned, eyes. Sash smiled a big smile, "It was a pleasure to cook for you, my dear. Maybe you can cook for me soon." Satisfied that her new friend was okay, Jennah skipped over to her mother, kissed her and then headed out the door. Before she left she looked back the two adults and giggled. Sash stood and began to clear the table. Nessa began to help. Together they had everything cleaned up in no time. Sash dropped himself onto his sofa and ran his hands through his hair. He looked up to see Nessa looking at him. He patted the seat next to him. Vanyssa refilled her glass of wine and accepted the invitation to sit. She leaned her head on his shoulder, and thought for a moment. "I don't like him. Either of them." She said simply. "There's something there," Sash told her. "I can't put my finger on it, a spark of hmanity, of caring. I don't know. But he is not your typical SFI man. It's almost as if he wants to be here, but doesn't want to be here." He absent mindedly began to run his hands through Nessas long red hair. "As for that Tagon fella. I have no idea what to make of him. I understand that Brikarians are tough to read, telepathically. Maybe that's why you don't trust him. I definitely don't want to be on his bad side." (reply Winters) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS NIMITZ - Deck 3, Room 18 - Ensign Saleke, CSO - 21:20) Saleke entered his quarters and said, "Lights," after the light level in the dim room had increased he moved to the bedchamber and retrieved his carryall from the closet. "Computer activate." From the tabletop rose the computer screen with an almost inaudible hum. [Active.] "Raise temperature in room to one hundred ten degrees farenheit." As the temperature in the room rose to a comfortable level the Vulcan took offf his shirt then took a loose fitting off-white shirt and matching pants from the carryall. ~ It is amazing how low a temperature most species prefer, the buildings and ships stay very cold, fortunately at least my quarters will be comfortable for sleeping. ~ "Computer access files for Research and Applied Technologies Unit." [Records Accessed.] "Search for records on Falthgood, Zachary." [ Access denied. Records on Falthgood, Zachary restricted.] "Under what protocol?" [Command protocol classified, files restricted by Star Fleet Intelligence] Saleke considered that tidbit for a moment. ~ So his past activities are under the domain of Star Fleet Intelligence, that explains the situation far more clearly than posting dates and duties could. ~ The Vulcan took a deep breath, tracking down the man's past was going to take an intensive effort, without the proper rank nearly all available avenues would be shut off. ~ The easiest way would be to actually interview people he has served with, on this ship that is no problem but even then that information will be sparse, he will not have divulged all of his past activities and I can't leave the ship to track down all of his movements. ~ "Computer display reports Saleke 1a." ~ At least I can try to catch up on some of my work for a couple of hours. ~ He thought. (Reply: Any) (Posted by Charles Gatling) Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz - Personal Quarters - Lt(jg) Falthgood - 21:20) Falthgood paced back and forth, all his searches had been moved to his quarters, where he had a couple LCARS access points wired in for his every-day work. He had been looking at the multiple screens for hours, right now he had the computer running a very specific search on the access points, looking for traces of the programs he was used to using to hack into the database. It was one of those things he didn't like doing much, waiting. Right now, one or more agents could be working their evil Voodoo magic on the ship, and there was nothing he would be able to do about it. He was playing with a small vial, one of the few personal possessions he had brought with him from the Cochrane, and before that from nearly every ship he had ever gone too. He had very few personal possessions, and this vial was one of three that he kept near him always. This wasn't the only time his past had come up to bite him, just the most dangerous. He had been walking around his room for the last half hour, letting the computer do its thing in a quiet way, most of his searches were being hidden by his own various security sub-routines. He had found himself musing over Sash's Carte Blanche, and his reluctance to do everything he had once done. It wasn't surprising, he hadn't had to live anything other then a half-way normal life for years. He had only taken the direct role in what he was planning a half-dozen times, he had a security force for the rest. Still, there was little choice, typical Starfleet Jurisprudence wouldn't be able to get him the answers he needed in time. He only prayed HE Would be able to get the answers in time, before the ship became a ball of fire that would spew radiation for years to come. The 7 foot man skidded to a halt when his monitor beeped at him, and data started scrolling over the screen. He narrowed his eyes as he looked at it, then slowly pulled out a chair and sat down, though his eyes never left the screen. The Computer had come across a target trace, and was scrolling it to its source. Then, suddenly, it stopped. The computer beeped a couple times and cross-referenced with the crew database, a moment later a bio popped up with a name and face. Zach's face spread into a very slow, very malicious grin. "Lieutenant Vadhagh, Security Section Chief." he said, as if tasting the name. "Gotcha." He pulled a phaser from his secured desk, and checked its charge, then nodded in satisfaction. He said out-loud, "Computer, initiate program Falthgood Football 2" [Initiated] The large man looked around a few times, then pointed the phaser at the piece of technology he had brought with him from Cochrane, and took a shot. A level 3 stun-beam hit the artifact, and it absorbed it without issue. He quirked his eyebrow, no alarms had gone off. "Computer," he asked, "was a phaser just fired anywhere on the ship?" [Affirmative, in Lieutenant Zachary Falthgood's Quarters] Zach grinned, "And why didn't any alarms go off?" [Classified, Contact Lieutenant Falthgood or Captain Sash for details.] "Good, I shall do just that." he said. He had had many hours of sit-down time, and Sash HAD given him carte blanche. He certainly didn't want security officers coming down on his head right in the middle of his reunion. He picked up his small pack and slipped the vial into it that he was still holding, and then slipped the entire pack into one of his interior pockets. Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz - Outside Personal Quarters of Lt Vadhagh - Lt(jg) Falthgood - 21:48) Zach pushed the buzzer to Lt Vadhagh's quarters. This man had been living on the Nimitz for a year, he had friends, and from what he had read... He liked to entertain visitors. Therefore, it wasn't a surprise when the door slid open, revealing a man clad only in standard boxer shorts. "Hi honey, its reunion time!" Zach said with a smile as he pushed forward. The Lieutenant was quick, and started twisting, but not before Zach pushed the button on his phaser and sent the high-powered blast straight into the mans side. The guy crumpled to the ground, and Zach strode into the quarters over him. The door shut, leaving them in near-dark. "Computer, secure these quarters." [Secured] Most excellent, he murmured as he put the phaser in his belt and started yanking at the fairly muscular Security guard. This was the fun part, dragging dead weight around the quarters. Stardate:2406.06.20 (USS Nimitz - Quarters of Lt Vadhagh - Lt(jg) Falthgood - 2215) "Wakey wakey sunshine," Zach crooned to the officer. He had a tricorder out and was studying it, the man hadn't moved a muscle, but it was hard to fool a tricorder when it came to bio-signs. The Lieutenant had gone from unconsciousness to wakefulness without twitching a muscle, he was well trained. Vadhagh had been secured with manacles to a chair, and tied at the feet. The manacles had been in the small pack Zach had brought, one never knew when they could come in handy. Vadhagh apparently assumed Zach was watching him and looked up slowly. Zach continued to study the tricorder, then closed it silently and crossed his arms behind his back after replacing it back into its holster next to the phaser. "You look very stylish in those boxers and hand-cuffs, Lieutenant." he said agreeably, "Its been a while since I had a reunion, but I don't seem to remember you. Looks like Doenitz has begun recuiting for far more then just the simple protection of his Black Projects." The officer grunted, but said nothing more as he began systematically testing the cuffs and trying to move various parts of his body. Falthgood gave a humorless grin, then pulled out a small hypospray and slammed it into the mans shoulder. He slumped again, unable to move, though still awake. "Just a mild sedative, it will wear off in a couple minutes." he said quietly as he pulled the black pack out of his vest and opened it up. He pulled out three vials, and three syringes. None of the vials were labeled, except for a single color. One was white, one was red and one was black. He took the first syringe and pulled exactly fifty CC's out of the red vial, then pulled 90CC's out of the black vial with a second syringe. He tapped them both, to make sure no bubbles could be seen, then walked over to the bound man quietly. Zach would allow no hesitation, but this was the part he liked the very least. This is the part which could turn dark, very fast. While the man was still incapacitated, he jabbed the first syringe into the mans arm, and ejected all of its contents. It was followed closely by the second. Without another word he turned again, picked up the third White vial, and pulled ALL of the vials contents into the syringe. He tossed the empty vial aside and looked at the syringe, there was about 140 CC's in it. Zach gently placed the needle aside, then pulled up a second chair and stat right across from the prisoner. "Alright," Zach said in a quiet voice. "I'm not exactly a nice man, but I'm sure you already knew that. I would imagine, in fact, that you read my dossier before coming onboard, just so you would know the kind of person you were dealing with onboard." He held up a syringe, "This isn't likely to be something they trained you for though. I was given carte blanche on lots of nasty things when I was under Doenitz, all for the good of the Federation of coures. Not all of the things we ended up doing ended up making it into a report destined for the great Admiral." He spit the last words, then gestured to the syringe. "I've already injected you with two things, buck-wheat. One was a truth drug, very powerful, but possible to resist. The second is an agent that increases the strength of that drug and makes it very impossible to resist no matter the mental conditioning, but..." Zach sat forward and grinned evilly, though he shuddered inside. "That agent is also a powerful neuro-toxin. The two work together to form a very powerful truth agent indeed, but it takes an hour for that substance to work. By the time the truth drug kicks in and you start telling me unalloyed truth, however, it will be too late to inject you with the antidote, and you will certainly die anytime in the two hours after that." He sat back again, and put his hand with the serum down. "Or, you can tell me everything you know, and earn your life back. But I warn you now, ahead of time. Every time you tell me a false answer, decide not to answer at all, or attempt to prevaricate, I will squirt a few CC's out. It takes about 45CC's to save your life, there is approximately 120 CC's in the vial currently.. That doesn't leave much room to play, and there isn't another vial of this stuff on the entire ship." Zach smiled wickedly again, "So, either way, I'm going to have the answers I want. I trust I won't have to let you die? So, are there any other agents of Doenitz's on the ship?" "Go'ta hell," the man breathed in a bass rumble. The Scientist mused for a few moments, "Probably, but Ill have plenty of good company when I do." He aimed the syringe at the mans chest, and pushed out a good twenty CC's, leaving around 100 left. "Again, is there anyone left who should be in on our quaint little dark reunion?"
